Hidden North Vancouver Gem

During my first meeting with this wonderful family their first and foremost wish was to add some street appeal to the front of their home. The original structure was very flat and plain and didn’t offer a lot of character.
We tossed around a couple ideas and with those I brought in an architect/ designer to put it all to paper.

A full enclosure was constructed over the home and we removed one half of the roof in order to change all the roof lines, extend one section of the home forward and give the house the much needed character it was lacking. The structural elements proved to be quite challenging but with the great work of C.A. Boom Engineering we were able to make it all happen.

Although we did not add a lot of square footage to the home the end product was an amazing, totally open concept space with the addition of an oversized 2 car, fully finished garage below. Something the homeowner was in desperate need of for his 2 collector cars.
The main living areas spared no expense with top of the line millwork, appliances and floor finishes, the hardwood looking porcelain tile was installed in a herringbone pattern which continued through to the front patio space. The kitchen is now a far more functional, large open space great for entertaining as well as a place for the two young boys to spread out all their LEGO!
A bedroom on the upper floor was removed and the space turned into a huge walk in closet for the master. This allowed to double the size of the ensuite which was completely re done including a large 2 person steam shower.
This project took approx 6 months to complete and it was a wonderful experience not only working with but getting to know the homeowners. They were instrumental in many of the selections of finishes and products and had incredible vision towards the end product.

Caulfield Area Residence

This already beautiful home was in need of some modern upgrades and remodels. European owners were looking to modernize their kitchen and bathrooms while still maintaining the traditional feel of their home. We did a complete renovation of all 6 bathrooms and the extremely large kitchen. Along with the help of designer Susanne Doise of Sensitive Design, we were able to transform these spaces into modern, yet functional showpieces.

The Master Ensuite was an extremely large, dark space with different ceiling heights, an obtrusive deck mounted, two person tub, and a built in gas fireplace. The end product was a contemporary, streamline space with marble floors and walls, floor to ceiling glass and top of the line plumbing fixtures.

The kitchen was an entirely separate project. We had a 7 week window while the homeowners were away to completely re fit the entire space. A 7th bathroom in the home was eliminated to make a large pantry off the kitchen and much of the lay out was completely changed. A Leischt European kitchen was installed with Quartz countertops to top them off. Miele Appliances were used throughout along with beautiful new plumbing fixtures including a “Gallery” sink. Custom walnut doors and fronts were made locally to finish off the beautiful space.

In addition to the interior work we constructed a new porcelain tiled deck off the master bedroom with glass guard rails to utilize the amazing views and create a beautiful sitting area for two.
This project was truly a pleasure to work on with such wonderful homeowners to deal with.

West Vancouver Residence

I had the pleasure of overseeing the construction of this magnificent project. The almost 17000 square foot home sits on a fully landscaped 1 acre lot. The original homeowner spared no expense and paid incredible attention to detail. He was extremely knowledgeable in the building and development aspects which made the construction process very enjoyable and seamless.
This is a home that I have been fortunate enough to stay involved with over the years and assist the owners with any alterations and/ or maintenance that come up. Most recently Candane has just completed a rather large scale renovation of this home to accommodate a growing family. A truly signature home in a extremely desirable area, this home has it all!

Shaunessy Renovation

This beautiful home in the heart of Shaughnessy received an entire interior re work. With close consultation of engineers we were able to remove many of the interior walls on the main level to create an amazing open concept which is so desirable these days.
The homeowners played a big part in all of the interior design decisions and much of the project was evolved from discussions between myself and the owners. Their ability to visualize what they were looking for and our ability to comprehend and understand their visions helped turn this into a beautiful traditional style home and yet still create a new, contemporary feel inside.

West Vancouver Renovation and Addition

The homeowners of this beautiful home definitely saw its potential when they purchased it. Although in need of some repair and restoration the property and the home itself were well worth the time and effort it took to transform it into something stunning. In need of an entire new roof, we constructed a complete water proof structure of the entire house in order to restore the roof. For 2 months straight roofers, carpenters and labourers stripped the entire roof of its membrane, insulating board, sheathing, and approx. 75% of all the roof joists.

Doing all of this without I disrupting any of the interior ceiling finishes. With the assistance of an envelope engineer we then reconstructed the entire roof structure to today’s building standards. Cosmetically, we finished the entire living space of an indoor pool adding in proper ventilation and replacing many of the blown Windows and adding in some large sliding doors to open up the space to the outdoors.

In the living room/ kitchen area we raised the ceilings, re configured the back of the room by adding in large sliding doors and picture windows to maximize the incredible view from the living space. Some basic architectural plans were in place to get rolling and then the bulk of the design was determined by discussions with myself and an incredibly visionary homeowner that had a lot of great ideas that we were able to turn into reality.
